Jigsaw puzzles and sudoku puzzles that strengthen both the user and the online community
Since 2007, Social Minds ApS has been connecting people all over the world. First via online jisgaw puzzles on the platform Jigidi and since 2018 also via sudoku puzzles on its little sister platform Sudokupeople.
On Jigidi, users can both solve some of the communitie's jigsaw puzzles and upload their own images as jigsaw puzzles for others to solve. The latter in particular strengthens the community, and many friendships around the world have been made in this way.
Social Minds ApS is owned by us, Mette Fog and Magnus Jacobi, and the jigsaw puzzle adventure began in 2006 when we became parents: during the (somewhat sleepless) first months, Magnus found a website with online jigsaw puzzles, where he created a puzzle of our son, which he sent to his mother. This gave us the idea to create a platform where others could do the same and at the same time participate in a community around the online jigsaw puzzles.
Jigidi was established the following year and has been continuously developed. We are very committed to creating healthy online environments that concretely benefit users. That's why we in addition developed Sudokupeople - and we're constantly exploring how the platforms can be used to train the brain. Both for people with cognitive problems and anyone else who wants to keep their brain working.
At the same time, we focus on how to ensure a kind and rewarding online community without the conflicts we often see on other online platforms. For example, we have fixed rules for how users should communicate with each other on Jigidi in a respectful and kind manner. And we don't tailor their experience by means of algorithms or like buttons that can create divides.
Jigidi is good brain training because we link scalable cognitive training with a well-functioning social element. Although we are not used to thinking of it that way, communicating with our fellow humans is one of the most challenging things for the brain to do, assessing the meaning of what is being said and taking into account the different contextual circumstances.
We actively rule out divisive behaviour on Jigidi because it is a barrier to achieving what we want our users to achieve when they use our platform.
As humans, we have a fundamental need to see others and be seen. We need to share the experience of life with someone - and the more genuine the sharing experience is, the greater the value it holds. By genuine, we mean sharing from the heart and with as little armour as possible. This can only happen in a safe environment, where you trust that you will not be met with hostility in either pictures or comments. Such an environment is Jigidi.
It's not yet possible to communicate with each other on Sudokupeople - but we'll get there ♥
